Isoechoic Ultrasound Imaging Terminology
Isoechoic describes tissue that produces an echogenicity (brightness) similar to the reference tissue on ultrasound, resulting in comparable echo signals in the image.
Practical Image Interpretation
Isoechoic lesions or structures are interpreted as having echotexture similar to adjacent normal parenchyma or background tissue.
Common Usage
The term is commonly applied in organ imaging to describe lesions whose ultrasound appearance closely matches the surrounding tissue rather than being clearly hypoechoic (darker) or hyperechoic (brighter).
