Lactated Ringer’s Solution Contraindications

Lactated Ringer’s injection is contraindicated in neonates (≤28 days of age) receiving ceftriaxone, even if separate infusion lines are used. [1]

Lactated Ringer’s injection is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to sodium lactate. [1]

Ceftriaxone Concomitant Use

In patients older than 28 days, ceftriaxone must not be administered simultaneously with intravenous calcium-containing solutions, including Lactated Ringer’s injection, through the same infusion line. [1]

If the same infusion line is used for sequential administration in patients older than 28 days, the line must be thoroughly flushed between infusions with a compatible fluid. [1]

Sodium Lactate Hypersensitivity

A known hypersensitivity to sodium lactate is a contraindication to Lactated Ringer’s injection. [1]
