Moxonidine Initial Dose

Moxonidine treatment should be initiated at 0.2 mg once daily (in the morning). [1]

Dose for Adults Without Renal Impairment

  • Initial dose is 0.2 mg moxonidine once daily in the morning. [1]

Dose for Moderate Renal Impairment

  • For moderately impaired renal function (GFR >30 to <60 mL/min), the single dose should be not more than 0.2 mg and the daily dose should be not more than 0.4 mg. [1]

Dose for Severe Renal Impairment

  • For severe renal impairment (GFR <30 mL/min), the daily dose should be not more than 0.3 mg. [1]

Titration Schedule After Initiation

  • If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, the dose can be increased after 3 weeks to 0.4 mg once daily. [1]
  • After an additional 3 weeks, the dose can be increased further to a maximum of 0.6 mg/day divided (morning and evening) if still insufficient. [1]

Maximum Daily Dose
