Anasarca Definition
Anasarca is generalized, severe body edema involving multiple body compartments, typically with marked swelling of the skin and soft tissues.
Clinically, anasarca is characterized by diffuse fluid accumulation that may include peripheral edema and can extend to dependent edema, ascites, and pleural effusions depending on the underlying cause.
