Albumin Replacement After Large-Volume Paracentesis

Albumin infusion is recommended for large-volume paracentesis with a recommended dose of 6–8 g of albumin per liter of ascites removed. [1]

For 7 L removed, the recommended albumin dose is 6–8 g/L × 7 L = 42–56 g of albumin. [1]

Albumin replacement is recommended during large-volume paracentesis to reduce the risk of post-paracentesis circulatory dysfunction. [1]

Albumin should be administered as an IV infusion based on the total volume removed (6–8 g per liter). [1]
